The BBBB or Bali Bermuda Bowl Bet is an attempt to have a little fun predicting the results for the upcoming Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup and D’Orsi Seniors bowl. Goal is to predict the top 4 teams in each of the events, plus the 4 other teams making it to the quarterfinals.
In order to participate, email me 3 lists of 8 teams with your predictions of the final results before the start of the event. That is Monday, September 16, 2013, 0:00 GMT. Simply label the teams 1 to 8. On September 29, after the event is over, your list will be compared to the actual results and scored as follows for each of the 3 events:
- •12 points for correctly predicting the winner
- •10 points for correctly predicting the silver, bronze and 4th placed team
- •5 points if one of your top teams finishes 1 spot lower or higher, 3 if off by 2, 1 if off by 3.
- •1 point for each quarterfinalist predicted correctly.
So, if you get it exactly right, you’ll score 12+10+10+10+8 = 50 points for the Bermuda Bowl, 50 for the Venice Cup, 50 for the Seniors, for a total of 150. Winner is (obviously) the person scoring the most points. There are no prizes, other than bragging rights. Results will be posted to this site shortly after the event concludes.

As this is a fun event, there are no prizes or anything, it is free, if anything comes up not covered by these rules, I’ll decide.
The mail can be really simple. Name, name of the event and 3x8 teams without comments. If you enter 9 (or more teams), number 9 will be ignored. If you enter a team that does not participate, it will be ignored too. If you see this on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or such, please do not use the reply function to send in your list, but go to your mail program. I’ve written some code to run this event, but as this is a one-time only fun event, don’t want to spend too much time on that either.

De BBBB oftewel Bali Bermuda Bowl Bet is een poging om een beetje lol te hebben door het voorspelen van de uitslagen van het komende WK. Doel is om de 4 top teams van de Bermuda Bowl (open), Venice Cup (dames) en D’Orsi bowl (senioren) plus de 4 andere kwartfinalisten te voorspelen.
Om mee te doen: stuur me een mailtje met je naam en 3 lijstjes van 8 teams voor het begin van het toernooi, dat is op maandag 16 september, 0:00 GMT. Op 29 september, als de resultaten bekend zijn, vergelijk ik jouw voorspelling met de werkelijke uitslag en geef punten:
- •12 punten voor een correcte voorspelling van de winnaar
- •10 punten voor de nummers 2, 3 en 4.
- •5 punten als een team uit jouw top 4 een plaats hoger of lager eindigt, 3 als je 2 plaatsen verkeerd zit, 1 als je 3 plaatsen verkeerd zit.
- •1 punt voor ieder team dat je als kwartfinalist voorspeld hebt.
Is jouw voorspelling dus helemaal goed, dan scoor je 12+10+10+10+8=50 punten voor de Bermuda Bowl, 50 voor de Venice Cup, 50 voor de Seniors, totaal 150. Winnaar is (uiteraard) degene met de meeste punten. Resultaten komen kort na het toernooi op deze site.

Er zijn geen prijzen, het is gratis, in alle gevallen die de regels niet dekken, beslis ik.

Als je dit op Facebook, Twitter of Google+ ziet, gebruik dan niet de antwoordfunctie om mee te doen, maar ga even naar je mailprogramma. Ik heb wat code geschreven om dit snel te doen, maar wil ook wier niet al teveel tijd eraan besteden.
